“Natural Rhythm and Illumination” Art Exhibit

Featuring the stained glass and pastel drawing artworks by Artist Steve King

Steve King creates dynamic stained glass designs that illuminate our natural world in which he features fossils, agates, crystals, bones and shells.

Mr. King’s oil pastel designs blend the chakra color palette with the rhythmic feel of a healing mandala. Prints and cards of the oil pastel works have been exhibited in the Hudson Hospital and various healing centers and galleries in the region.

This art exhibit is on display Mondays through Saturdays from 9 AM to 5 PM and Sundays from 12 PM to 5 PM from July 1 through July 31.

A portion of the proceeds from the sale of Mr. King’s stained glass artwork helps support the programs and operations of the Great River Road Visitor and Learning Center at Freedom Park.

The goal of “Books and Benches” is to promote reading and encourage families to spend time enjoying unique community art projects and exploring the amazing places in the St. Croix River Valley.

This “Books and Benches” program is a partnership between Somerset Elementary Family Book Drive, The Phipps Center for the Arts, the Art Bench Trail, the Prescott Public Library and the Great River Road Visitor and Learning Center at Freedom Park.

“Build a Little Free Library”

Join the Friends of Freedom Park for a “Build a Little Free Library” Event

“We will be celebrating the 10th Anniversary of the Great River Road Visitor and Learning Center while promoting literacy throughout our community. We will construct 8 Little Free Libraries during the event.”

Attendees will be invited to help with the assembly. Little Free Library founder Todd Bol will be in attendance to help Friends of Freedom Park celebrate this important milestone.

Please bring a book or two for our book exchange table.

Summary:

“All forms of creative work are encouraged. All media, subjects and styles are welcome including—but not limited to—painting, fibers, printmaking, sculpture, glass, pottery, jewelry, mixed media and photography. Applications will be reviewed by the program committee of Friends of Freedom Park to ensure an appropriate mix of work for the exhibition.

Exhibits of multiple artists or groups will be considered, as well. Friends of Freedom Park sell artwork on a commission basis with 70% retained by the exhibiting artist, and preference is given to artists interested in selling their work.”
