Tom Blanck painting

Art Exhibit: Tom Blanck and B.J. Christofferson

Stop by Prescott to enjoy a colorful joint gallery of unique art!

Prescott painter Tom Blanck and Maiden Rock mixed-media artist B.J. Christofferson are currently displaying their artwork for sale at the Great River Road Visitor & Learning Center!

Artists statements:

Blanck: “My preferred method of painting is to study a landscape or scene from several angles until I understand its qualities. No doubt, this is the architect in me speaking, at least in part. I then determine a view based on how the composition will appear in the painting.” Read more

Christofferson: “My work represents protectors, guardians, saints and their symbols. Many inhabit small shrine-like dwelling places. My intent is to explore the heart – the center of life, strength and understanding. The allegorical images are cut from paper and layered to create 3-dimensional narratives.” Read more

Artist Reception – Jeff Wilson

You are invited to an artist reception!

potteryJoin artist Jeff Wilson on Friday, August 4 from 5 to 7 p.m.

Hear about his artistic inspirations and fascinating processes for creating both functional stoneware and decorative raku. Jeff throws his own pieces and uses several finishing methods for his raku, including obvara.

Artist statement:
“I like to create functional stoneware with the occasional dabble into Raku. However there are still the moments where caution goes to the wind and something strange is created. Cone 6 stoneware with electric firing is mostly how things happen in my studio. I create my own glazes for the most part as well (which can lead to some interesting results). Unless otherwise marked, all my glazes are food/microwave/dishwasher safe.”

FREE PROGRAM.

Light refreshments will be provided and the Great River Road Visitor and Learning Center at Freedom Park educational exhibits will also be available for viewing.
