“Natural Rhythm and Illumination” Art Exhibit

Featuring the stained glass and pastel drawing artworks by Artist Steve King

image of woman on glass

Steve King creates dynamic stained glass designs that illuminate our natural world in which he features fossils, agates, crystals, bones and shells.

Mr. King’s oil pastel designs blend the chakra color palette with the rhythmic feel of a healing mandala. Prints and cards of the oil pastel works have been exhibited in the Hudson Hospital and various healing centers and galleries in the region.

This art exhibit is on display Mondays through Saturdays from 9 AM to 5 PM and Sundays from 12 PM to 5 PM from July 1 through July 31.

A portion of the proceeds from the sale of Mr. King’s stained glass artwork helps support the programs and operations of the Great River Road Visitor and Learning Center at Freedom Park.

Orange Dragon Art Gallery Honors the Work of Cliff Moen

The Orange Dragon Art Gallery presents the first show of the 2016 spring season

Cliff Moen Mississippi BirchThe exhibit features the work of Cliff Moen, a nationally known artist from the Hastings/Prescott confluence area. His passing this January was a great loss to the community. Cliff was educated at the Minneapolis School of Art and the University of Minnesota in painting and art history. After traveling extensively in the US and Western Europe, he settled in the woods along the Mississippi in Nininger near Hastings. There, he and wife Barbara raised their three boys while he dispatched works from his studio to exhibits all over the country.

The 2016 spring exhibit highlights the exquisite art generated locally and demonstrate how the natural beauty of the area inspires painting. “To filter nature through one’s own sensibilities, to transmit one’s feelings and impressions of life to canvas, is at once a challenge and a great joy,” Cliff Moen.

Artist Aaron MoenAaron Moen, Cliff’s son and the curator of his father’s work, is also an artist. His work is also on display. Aaron has travelled extensively through national and state parks and these experiences are reflected in his work. Both men excel at transforming the beauty of nature onto canvass.

The Gallery is part of the non-profit Hastings Prescott Area Arts Council (HPAAC). Sale proceeds go to the exhibiting artists and to local arts activities. Details of the exhibit are available at Orange Dragon Art Gallery

Gallery hours: Wednesday through Sunday from 11:00 to 5:00
