“Turn Fabric to Stone” with Paverpol!

Come to BreakAway’s Next Community Workshop!
Make Poppies, Flying Monkeys and Munchkins for promotion and props to support Black Dirt Theater’s Wizard of Oz! Paverpol is a unique product specifically formulated for  sculpture, set design, 2D & 3D art, and much more!

Workshops will run from 10am to 6pm, July 6th through the 8th. You’re free stay the whole time or part of the time!

Please bring a roll of masking tape (the wider the better), a roll of aluminum foil, and sharp scissors (sharp enough for fabric).

Sanctuaries – Churches, Homes & Gardens 2016 Tour

Save the Date: July 9 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

This fundraiser is for the benefit of scholarships for youth who are interested in any of the art forms. The tour focuses on the theme of Mid-Century Modernism & Modernism. Tour 1 mid-century church, 3 modern homes (all at least 50 years old) and 5 amazing gardens. Some sites will host workshops (POLLINATOR GARDENING, FLOWER ARRANGING, FUN WITH HERBS) and the tour includes other examples of modernism to admire curbside.

Advance tickets at $20 are available until July 8 online and at the following locations: Hastings YMCA, BreakAway Arts in Hastings, MN and the Orange Dragon Art Gallery (ODG) in Prescott, WI.

Rhubarb Festival at the LeDuc Historic Estate

On June 4, 2016 10 a.m.- 2 p.m. the Friends of LeDuc and Historic Hastings will sponsor their Annual Rhubarb Festival.

Rhubarb will reign as the main feature of this event – bunches of fresh rhubarb, potted rhubarb plants and baked rhubarb treats will all be offered for sale. Sharing the stage with rhubarb this year will be herbs. There will be demonstrations on how to use various herbs in salads and cooking and suggestions for which herbs to include in your own garden to provide sanctuary and food for bees and butterflies. A variety of potted herbs will be offered for sale as well. Read More

Original sculptures by Artists Dale Lewis and John Hughes are now in display in Hastings and Prescott.

Based on the real life experiences of Hastings residents Janet Letnes Martin and artist David Cook, “Lemonade for the Lawnboy: The Musical!” explores the magical and often tangled intersection between the genius of art and the self-destruction of addiction.

Featuring a powerhouse cast of Twin Cities performers: Roxanne Britz, Shana Eisenberg, Wendy Short Hays, Robbie Manicina, Tina North, Gail Ottmar, Janet Paone and Edward Williams.

Performances run June 1 – 5, 2016, at the Hastings Arts Center.
