Summary:

“All forms of creative work are encouraged. All media, subjects and styles are welcome including—but not limited to—painting, fibers, printmaking, sculpture, glass, pottery, jewelry, mixed media and photography. Applications will be reviewed by the program committee of Friends of Freedom Park to ensure an appropriate mix of work for the exhibition.

Exhibits of multiple artists or groups will be considered, as well. Friends of Freedom Park sell artwork on a commission basis with 70% retained by the exhibiting artist, and preference is given to artists interested in selling their work.”

Modern Interpretations of Historic Designs IV: Patterns from the Hastings Needle Work Company

LeDuc Historic EstateAccepting applications from March 1, 2015 through March 31, 2016.

“Attention needle workers and artists! The Dakota County Historical Society announces a juried arts competition based on original embroidery designs from the Hastings Needle Work Company.

Founded by Alice and Florence LeDuc, Hastings Needle Work produced unique embroidery pieces for their clients from 1888 until the mid-1920s. Selected original patterns, from the collection of the Minnesota Historical Society, are made available for this event. You may use any artistic media to interpret the design of your choice.”

Application deadline for entries is March 31, 2016.  The accepted pieces will be delivered to the Estate in advance of the exhibition, set to open in June 2016.

“The Mousetrap” Auditions

The Rosemount Front Porch Players, part of the Rosemount Area Arts Council, will be presenting Agatha Christie’s “The Mousetrap” at the Steeple Center Arts Center in Rosemount directed by Keith Reed. Performance dates March 4, 5, 6, 11, 12 and 13.

AUDITIONS for EIGHT roles will be held at the Rosemount Community Center, 13885 S. Robert Trail in Rosemount on:

Sunday, December 13, 6-9 PM

Monday, December 14 6-9 pm with callbacks if needed on Tuesday, December 15 from 6-9pm.

Bring a headshot and resume if you have them, as well as rehearsal conflicts. Readings from the script, rehearsals will begin January 25 and will typically be held Mon. – Thurs. 6-9 pm.

Call for Artists – Hastings MN Public Arts

The Hastings Public Arts Grant Task Force is currently seeking artists to submit projects for consideration in the 2015/2016 call for public artwork.

The first wave of art will be featured as part of our Riverfront Renaissance project taking place in Levee Park on the riverfront in downtown Hastings. The City of Hastings has invested considerable resources in rejuvenating the riverfront to welcome residents and visitors to this treasured area of our city. A major component of the Riverfront Renaissance is the Rotary Pavilion, a community gathering space that will host a variety of community events and performances. The proposed public art locations are highly visible and will be easily viewed and enjoyed by all who gather at the pavilion or visit the riverfront area.

Interested artists can review the concept, site map, proposed budget, requirements to submit artwork, timeline, and entry form below. Deadline for entries is 4:30 p.m. on January 15, 2016.

Call for Artists – Exhibit your work for show and sale

This is your opportunity to exhibit your work for show and sale. There is a limited number (16) of spaces available this year and will be filled on a first come basis so get your registration form and money sent in immediately to be assured of getting a spot within the main Gala dining room.

The 2015 Gala is themed “Unmasking HPAAC”. It will be held Friday, October 16, 2015 at St Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 2035 15th St West, Hastings, MN. The Gala hours are from 6 – 9 p.m. with set up times in the afternoon before 5 p.m. (exact times TBD) and dismantle of your art space after 9 p.m.

books“Dakota County Library is looking for local authors, illustrators, publishers and literary agents to be part of the third Local Author Fair. The fair is an opportunity for authors and book creators to showcase their work, discuss and sell their books, network with one another and learn more about writing and the publishing business.”

The fair will take place on Saturday, Nov 14, 2015. There is no cost to apply or participate.

The venue for the event will be Hopkins Center for the Arts in Hopkins, Minnesota, and the judge and juror is Jack Richeson, founder of Jack Richeson & Co., Inc., a world-wide manufacturer, importer, and distributor of quality artists’ materials.

There will be at least $4000 in cash and other prizes awarded for this 1st NorthStar National, so we hope that you will look at the 2015 Prospectus, and enter online at Call For Entry (after April 1, when registration is opened)
