Two Concerts this Weekend

front of Hastings Arts CenterThe Hastings Arts Center will be hosting two concerts this weekend (May 14 & 15)

They are both wonderful events and very different from each other. If you need a warm place to go this week to stay inside during this incredible cold front, the Hastings Arts Center is where it’s at. “We promise we’ll have the heat on!”

Here are the details of each concert. Hope you can attend one or the other, or both

SATURDAY-MAY 14th–Annie Fitzgerald–Singer/Songwriter

7:30pm; $20 at the door; also purchase online at http://www.hastingsartscenter.org/upcoming-concerts.html

General seating; refreshments at intermission.

“Minnesota native, Singer-Songwriter Annie Fitzgerald has been noted for her ability to empathize with the listener with her remarkable knack for writing songs that stick with you long after they’ve last played.  Combining the most beloved attributes of fellow Folk-Americana Singer-Songwriters like Patty Griffin and Shawn Colvin, Fitzgerald’s guitar-based songs and performances are a constant paradox of the striking and the subtle. Already heralded as an artist to watch by the Songwriter’s Hall of Fame with just two records released to date, she is making her mark with a simple perspective and an irresistible style. After 10 years living in NYC, she and her family have relocated back to her roots to be close to family as they raise their young son. They’re enjoying their new-found sense of Minnesota space and freedom, and a new album is in the works. The gifted musicians Mark Keating (http://www.markkeatingmusic.com/) and Ben Woolman (http://benwoolman.net/) will be joining Annie for an evening of original songs and some favorite covers.”

SUNDAY, MAY 15TH–3:00pm, The WolfGang will perform pieces by Mozart and Beethoven on period instruments. This is a VERY unique opportunity to hear these instruments played by these musicians! $15 suggested donation at the door. Please come to hear something that is not often heard in our community.

“Parents, this is a great opportunity to show your budding young musicians these unique instruments playing music that was specifically written for them at the time.”

“Rock the Church” Fundraiser

Featured bands: “Voltage,” “Afterburner,” and “The Coxmen.”

Rock the ChurchSaturday, January 23, 2016, 7:00 pm-10:00 pm at Hastings Arts Center.

Special guest Andy Langenfeld will be the Emcee for the evening!   There may be a few other surprises throughout the night.

Doors open at 6:30 pm. – Donations will be accepted at the door.

Please plan to come and celebrate what we have already accomplished together this past year, but also what we can still accomplish by putting our resources together.

Let’s start out 2016 with a bang and…..    Rock out!!

Fundraiser’s purpose: Raise funds for two major purchases for the main hall; a quality concert grand piano for the stage; and a house sound system.

Benefits: Students of Blessings Academy will be able to use a quality instrument for their studio performances. Outside artists of a high caliber would be attracted to perform on a quality instrument in Hastings.  Any group needing sound would be able to arrive, plug in and play without too many challenges. The house sound system could also be used for recording sessions.  These would benefit the community greatly in many ways and would be a win for everyone.

If you like music, and who doesn’t, please plan to attend this worthy fundraiser Saturday, Jan 23rd.
