Sanctuaries: Homes, Churches, and Gardens Tour – July 11, 2015

For several years, HPAAC has sponsored an Art in the Garden Tour. This year they have asked the group, Friends of Leduc to join in welcoming you to Hastings and Prescott Sanctuaries Tour. Since a garden is often considered a private sanctuary, this year a few other inspired sanctuaries have been added (homes and churches.) We realize people define a sanctuary according to their own needs and desires. We want you to enjoy a few of our small town definitions of sanctuary. We hope you take home with you a sense of calm and peace.

This is a rare opportunity to experience a group of private historic homes from a converted church in Prescott to a nationally significant historic estate to three homes in Hastings dating back pre 1870 all with a unique spin on displaying art and respectful renovations. The tours allow design seekers to immerse themselves in private sanctuary domestic spaces. The unique homes are specially selected to reflect the rich diversity of livable, innovative modern spaces with huge respect for heritage and original architecture.

Glimpses into an area’s best-kept secrets, private gardens. This portion of the tour welcomes you into the private green spaces of residential neighborhood gardens as one aspect. Our gardeners share the experience of their personal retreats tucked behind imposing Victorian homes as well as modern abodes and even a renovated church yard. Many are protected by vine-covered walls and privacy fences but today you get to enjoy this private invite. Plus our offering includes a working farm garden complete with an outdoor pizza oven and the gardens of an historic estate which is also on the home tour.

An extra treat–enjoy at some of the venues, local artists demonstrating and or displaying their art.
