Collaborative Arts and Cultural Plan

Community’s views sought regarding arts and culture

A project is underway to create an arts and cultural plan for the community of Hastings. The plan will establish the status of arts, culture and the creative economy in Hastings and set a course for sustaining and growing this important social benefit, economic driver, and expanding employment sector.

The Hastings community values participation in arts and culture in so many ways. The plan will show why Hastings is currently home to enthusiastic audiences and artists, and it will demonstrate the important role arts and culture plays in expanding tourism and attracting residents and businesses to the area. Arts, culture and the creative sector draws people to local businesses, young professionals and entrepreneurs to employment and business opportunities, and parents, children and people of all ages to fun, engaging and skill building activities and events. The plan will inform and lay the groundwork for future partnerships and collaborations. It will celebrate successes, define deficits, and set a course for improvement. In summary the plan will show that Hastings is a welcoming place for the arts that offers many opportunities for growth!

As lead collaborators in the creation of the arts and cultural plan, the Hastings Prescott Area Art Council (HPAAC) has enrolled help from planning expert, Brenda Kayzar of Urbane DrK Consulting. She welcomes a collective and fully inclusive process and invites the wider community of arts and cultural organizations and artists as well as all businesses, associations, and residents to share their experiences and ideas about this important topic. She wants to hear from you about how to celebrate, sustain and grow arts and culture in Hastings!

She’s conducting an online survey and seeks your valuable feedback – as an audience member, participant, volunteer, parent, and member of the community. Participate in the creation of this roadmap to the future that will ensure Hastings can continue to celebrate the arts and cultural assets it has while growing ever more creative opportunities that are accessible and beneficial to all.
